About us

The firm.

Islands AI exists because the island deserves better than remote agencies with a Guernsey landing page.

We're a Guernsey company (registration 74458) building AI systems for businesses in the Channel Islands and the UK. Our bias is operational: systems that run every day, with logging, documentation and a human accountable for them, rather than demos that die after the pilot.

The founder

Naz Abbasovs founded Islands AI after a career that is unusually good preparation for exactly this work. Years in aviation operations, as crew, ground operations, dispatcher and trainer, where checklists, escalation and 'what happens when it fails' are the whole job. Then procurement, buying and governing technology for organisations that demand documentation, due diligence and accountability from their vendors. He now builds AI systems full time, and operates several in production, including Kalvo, the voice AI platform, and OnIsland, Guernsey's community app. The result is a firm that designs AI the way regulated organisations buy: controls first, evidence always, and no dependence on a vendor who disappears after go-live.

How we think about AI

AI is the biggest operational lever since the spreadsheet, and most of the risk stories are really governance stories. Firms don't get burned by AI; they get burned by ungoverned AI: no human checkpoint, no logs, no idea what data went where. Every system we build answers those three questions by design. That's the whole philosophy.
